Terry O’ Callaghan, Chairman 

Terry O’Callaghan brings over 30 years of telecoms and electronics experience to RedZinc.  His experience over 15 years from 1992 as a director of Digital Switch Systems includes international sales and management of product launches in EMEA and Australia to Telcos and major players such as Siemens and Ericsson.  He also managed product design projects and outsourcings to far east subcontractors.  During this time in a related company Terry ran an agency and distribution business selling a range of network infrastructure to the Irish Telco, Eircom.

Prior to this over a period of nine years Terry held senior operational roles in both Irish and multinational companies in the datacoms and medical electronics fields.  As Quality Manager and later operations Manager in Intec Medical Systems (the Irish operation of Intec Systems, Pittsburgh) he was a key member of the start up team in this technology leading operation.

Having graduated with a first class honours degree in Engineering Science in 1975 his early career was in the telecoms sector working for Nortel in the UK and Ireland. From there he joined Telectron an Irish telecommunications company designing and manufacturing network infrastructure equipment for Irish and export markets.

Donal Morris, Founder, CEO

Donal has played a leadership role in the business of packet networks for sixteen years leading development teams and raising development finance.

In 2004 Donal raised finance for 23 organisations to establish the EuQoS consortium for the development of an end to end quality of service system across heterogeneous networks. These organisations included Telefonica, France Telecom, Telecom Portugal, ERA, Telecom Poland, Juniper, Ericsson, Siemens, Datamat and a number of Universities. Donal served as chairman of the EuQoS consortium board (2004-2007).

Between 1998 and 2004 Donal served as CEO of Sherkin Communications. Under Donal’s leadership Sherkin Communications raised capital to develop and market a broadband service delivery product.

In 1998 Donal raised finance to form the BANDWIDTH 2008 consortium. The consortium included consultants and universities who purpose was to develop service ordering and billing systems

In 1996, Donal led the team which raised finance for the EU SUSIE consortium in internet protocol charging.

In 1994 Donal led a consortium including, Telia, Telefonica, Cable & Wireless, Nortel, CAP Gemini and Philips to raise finance to develop a system for broadband charging. Donal subsequently managed the consortium between 1995 and 1998 on behalf of Teltec Ireland.

Donal co-founded mechatronics firm Chorus Technologies (1989). Graduating in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University (1986), Donal began working for Blease Medical in England designing life support systems

Edmundo is a Professor at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. His research expertise is Quality of Service in Communication Systems and Network Security. He participated in European initiatives such as RARE (Réseaux IP Européenes), EWOS  (European Workshop for Open Systems) and COST263 (Quality of Future Internet Services) and E-NET (Emerging Networking Technologies). He is a member of the Advisory Editorial Board of the Computer Communications journal, from  Elsevier Science. He regularly acts as reviewer of advanced communications  projects.





Edmundo Monteiro

Martin is a leading researcher in Europe for broadband technologies. He has worked previously for Plessey (UK), British Telecom (UK) and Ascom (CH). He has recently assisted several large companies in the management of European Commission funded R&D projects, such as: Cisco - “6NET” (a pan-European IPv6 network), Telefonica - “EuQoS” (IP QoS), Thomson - “Haggle” (autonomic communications) and “Nanodatacenters” (storing data at the edges of the network, rather than in centralised data centers), and the Italian National Research & Education Network operator GARR - “Federica” (virtualisation, on the pan-European network GÉANT).
