LAAS
LAAS (Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems) is a particular research unit of the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) that reports to the STIC (Department of Science and Technology for Information and Communication). It is associated with three university institutions in Toulouse: UPS (Paul Sabatier University), INSA (National Institute of Applied Science) and INP (Polytechnic National Institute). LAAS is composed of more than 10 research groups (450 persons including PHD students) that conducts research in three keys areas, namely: Automatic Control, Computer Science and Engineering, Microelectronics.

Technical University of Catalonia
The Advanced Broadband Communications Center of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) was set up in January 1994 with the aim of consolidating a multi-disciplinary research group. Currently this center integrates researchers from several Departments which have interests on complementary communications research fields: Integrated Broadband Communications research group, the Optical Communications research group, and the Radio and Mobile Communications research group.The research center is supported by the University and is being partially funded by the Spanish Education Ministry (CICYT) and by the Research Commission of the Catalan Government (CIRIT-CUR) under several grants.

Activities underway are chosen to reflect areas of prime strategic importance for innovation in a local and in a broader national or international context.
CPR was set up in 1987 in Pisa, Italy, as a joint initiative of the Italian institute for public enterprise (IRI) and the National Research Council (CNR). Today's members include all of the university and research Institutions of the Pisa area, the Regional, District and Town Councils, and a number of major industrial groups and companies.

University of Rome
The University of Rome "La Sapienza" is by far the largest and one of the most prestigious universities in Italy. The main department involved in the project, Dipartimento di Informatica and Sistemistica (DIS) (Computer and Science department), holds a convention with the research institution CRMPA, which helps DIS in the management/administation of European Union projects. In particular, DIS was involved in nine IST 5th framework programme projects (VIRTUOUS, FUTURE, SAILOR, BRAHMS, SATIP6, WINE, WIND-GFLEX, SUITED, GEOCAST): in all these projects the DIS role was always mainly related to QoS issues.
