IPsphere
The Business of IP
IPsphere was established in 2005 with the charter of
developing an open multi-stakeholder web-services framework for the rapid
creation and automated deployment of IP-based services.
Founding organisations include BT, Cisco,
France Telecom,
Juniper, Lucent, RedZinc, Siemens, Telenor and Tellabs.
IPsphere posits that an automated framework is required for
federating the resources of multiple service stakeholders – such as content providers
and network operators –into end-to-end services. This framework also proposes
that each participant in the service offering is recompensed for their
contribution.
Simply put, IPsphere works like this:
- Service Providers publishes wholesale service offer.
- A partner service provider or webco selects service offer
- Partner service provider negotiates & invokes resources
in multiple networks using IPsphere SSS bus.
- The customer benefits by obtaining end to end quality of
service across multiple networks
In 2008 IPsphere merged into the TM Forum. More information about the IPsphere can be found here.
